In collaboration with West Wales River Trust (WWRT), The Small World Theatre and Space to Create, and as part of the Llais yr Afon project, we have produced a People's Plan for the Teifi that reflects the community's views on the state and future of the river.
You can access the plan on this link The Peoples Plan pdf file.
and see WWRT web site here for more details and to add your voice.
The People's Plan for the Teifi was launched by West Wales Rivers Trust in April 2025.
It was developed using the input of more than 300 members of the community in an effort to safeguard the river for future generations.
The plan prioritises ecological health, sustainable management, and community involvement.
The River Teifi, a significant Welsh waterway, supports a variety of wildlife and is of cultural and historical importance.
However, the river faces threats from pollution, climate change, and unsustainable land use.
The People's Plan provides a practical roadmap to tackle these challenges.
Harriet Alvis, chief executive of West Wales Rivers Trust, said: "This is a plan built by the people, for the river.
"It reflects the knowledge, passion, ambitions, and desires of those who live, work, and spend time along the Teifi, ensuring that its future is shaped by those who care most about its well-being."
The plan's development involved extensive consultation with community members through online surveys and in-person events.
To date, it represents the views of more than 300 community members and aims to increase this number.
It also calls for more protection, targeted investment, and collaborative management of the river.
With the People's Plan for the Teifi now in place, attention turns to its implementation.
Communities, businesses, and authorities are urged to support the plan's recommendations and participate in upcoming projects and initiatives.
